Dr. Martens is a men's and women's footwear brand, famous worldwide for its Combat boots made of leather with a rubber lug sole. The brand was created in 1960 by a British company, known for making work shoes, which bought the patent for boots with cushioned bottoms invented by German doctor Klaus Maertens from whom the brand's name was inspired. During the 1960s, the fashion for the work boot with a punk-rock soul, yellow stitching, and a back tab exploded among young people in the United Kingdom.
